Seasphere is an educational organisation that aims
to promote the sustainable use,
management, and future productivity of marine
resources through education,
awareness, and capacity building.
The ocean covers 70% of the planet and makes up 90%
of the biosphere. It is not
just a beautiful oasis that people should protect
for aesthetic and leisure purposes,
rather it is the basis of life on earth
and without it humans, along with all other
species, could not survive on
this planet.
Marine resources are dwindling due to overexploitation and human pressure.
Although all people depend in some way upon marine resources, those communities whose lives
are directly linked to their marine resources suffer immediate repercussions if these
resources are damaged or managed poorly.
Knowledge is key to the conservation and protection
of these marine environments.
By supplying information, scientific resources,
technical capacity and management
experience Seasphere supports communities whose
present resource use issues
directly affect their immediate livelihood.
